After voluntarily leaving corporate America as an HR Professional to raise her children for nineteen years, Chris realized that her attempts to break back into the work force was being met with rejection. She decided that earning a SHRM certification would help her become current on HR trends, employment laws, best practices and a variety of other HR functions. So Chris set about studying for both the PHR and SPHR exams through the FDU program; attending the Chapter sponsored study sessions; and participating in other smaller group sesBarbara Schultz and Sanjeev Panicker sharing a smile as Sanjeev is recognized for earning his SPHR.sions.

Chris successfully passed both exams and within a few short months landed a full time position with Konica Minolta Business Solutions.  She said that her resume received more attention from employers once she had obtained the credentials even after such a long break in service and during a period of high unemployment.  To quote Chris, "Obtaining my HR Certification was invaluable in securing employment and being recognized as a learned HR professional.”
