History and Awards
SHRM - Morris County Chapter, Inc. (Morris County SHRM) began March 1, 1975 with a handful of members, and has grown over the years to include more than 700 members today. We incorporated the Chapter in 2001, and hold 501(c) (3) status as a Not for Profit organization.
The purpose of our Chapter is to provide opportunities for continuing growth and education, networking and community service. We seek to raise the level of contribution and standards of performance in all phases of Human Resources and its related industries, and increase awareness of the importance of Human Resources and its related functions in the modern workplace.
Our Chapter is run almost entirely by volunteers, with one part-time paid Chapter Management Professional. Our Board Members, Chairpersons and Advocates set our Chapter's annual goals; determine programming and other member benefits; and collaborate with National SHRM, the Garden State Council and other New Jersey SHRM Chapters to serve our members.
Through the hard work and dedication of our volunteer leaders, our chapter has achieved "Superior Merit" status through National SHRM year after year. In 2005 and in 2008 we were awarded prestigious Pinnacle Awards for our community service projects.
Today we continue our tradition of excellence through monthly educational and networking meetings, special events and community service, and we welcome suggestions from those we serve.
Morris County SHRM is proud to announce that we have been designated a “Superior Merit” chapter by National SHRM for 2009. This prestigious award recognizes our achievements in chapter operations and our commitment to providing meaningful programs and services to our members and our community.
Our Chapter Received a 2008 Pinnacle Award!

Sponsored by National SHRM and Automatic Data Processing Inc. (ADP), this highest honor and coveted award was given to nine HR organizations in 2008 for developing initiatives that advance our profession. Our Chapter also earned this award in 2005 for our work with Unity Charter School.
