Transition Services

The Board of Directors of the Morris County chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management is excited to offer its Transition Services Program to all NJ SHRM chapters and NJ HR professionals in transition.  

This comprehensive program offers a resume review, four different job search webinars each month, a monthly support group, and a copy of Crack the Job Search Code workbook. The program is free for Morris County chapter members and there is a nominal fee of $25 for other NJ SHRM chapter members. 

The MC SHRM Intransition Volunteer Team is currently in process of revamping our in transition program! Please stay tuned to this page for updates in the near future.

The Morris NJ SHRM Chapter offers Transition Services to HR Professionals who are in an employment transition (i.e., are either currently unemployed, will be soon be unemployed, or are seeking a new position) in four formats - a copy of Crack the Job Search Code workbook, Resume Review with commentary to strengthen your resume, a monthly Transition Support Group, held just prior to the monthly dinner meeting, and Job Search Webinars, four webinars throughout the month on how to conduct an effective job search. All formats are designed to enhance a candidate’s job search skills, productivity and to facilitate the search process.

Payment: One-time fee includes a copy of Crack the Job Search Code, Resume Review, Webinar Conference Services, and Transition Support Group Meetings. Participants can attend as many support groups and webinars as they wish for the onetime fee. 
- Morris County SHRM Chapter Members in Transition - No fee
- Morris County SHRM Chapter Members NOT in Transition - $25 fee
- SHRM Members in Transition, Affiliated with 1 of the 11 New Jersey Chapters - $25 fee
- NJ National SHRM Member in Transition, not Affiliated with a NJ Chapter - $40
- NJ HR Professional in Transition NOT affiliated with SHRM - $50
- Out of State HR Professional in Transition, Affiliated or not with SHRM - $100

Note: If you are an employed HR professional, wanting to use the chapter’s transition services, your participation can be kept private. Just inform group leader of your need for confidentiality.

Transition Support Group

The Transition Support Group meets each month from September through November, and January through June, from 3:00-5:00 pm, just prior to the chapter’s dinner meeting. The goals of the support group are to offer job search ideas and advice, networking contacts, and to help improve a candidate’s job search productivity.

Registration, separate from the dinner meeting, is required for this service. To register for a Transition Support Group meeting, send an email to MC SHRM President, Connie Ward, PHR, SHRM-CP by 3 pm of the DAY BEFORE the monthly meeting. Failure to register may result in cancellation of that meeting due to lack of attendance.

Job Search Training Webinars

Each month, from September through June, the chapter offers Job Search Webinars designed to teach candidates how to conduct an effective job search. Each webinar is two hours long and provides in-depth training on a specific segment of job searching and allows ample time for question and answer. The webinars are offered on Wednesdays from 9-11 am ET on four Wednesdays of the month. Topics include:

· Resume Writing and Cover Letters - writing a powerful resume that attracts employers and invites interviews. Write a cover letter that sells you to the employer.
· The Direct Method of Job Searching - job boards, LinkedIn, working with recruiters, and accessing the hiring manager.
· The Indirect Method of Job Searching - basic and advanced networking strategies and techniques to broadcast your availability.
· Interviewing and Negotiations - how to cultivate an offer, negotiate an offer, and close a search to be ready for next time.

For months in which one of the webinars falls on a holiday eve or near a holiday (Thanksgiving, Christmas), that webinar will be offered on a different date. In those holiday months, one week will host two webinars. Check the schedule below to ensure that you receive a complete training program that month. Webinars start in September and continue throughout the year to June.

Speed Recruiting

How can Speed Recruiting be of help to you?

Are you a recruiter trying to fill an HR vacancy?  Or are you someone who is currently in transition, or looking for the next career move within HR?  The Morris County SHRM Chapter would like to help you by offering Speed Recruiting.  

What is Speed Recruiting?  It’s a program designed to connect HR Recruiters to candidates within our Chapter.   During the registration period (5-6pm) prior to the monthly dinner meeting, we will set up tables where recruiters and candidates can meet to briefly discuss opportunities and experience.
